Prices on hotel web sites are not necessarily the final price you have to pay. There may be discounts offered that you have not been aware of. Searching on the hotel web sites is a great way of finding prices and or discounts on hotel rooms. You may even find by calling the hotel directly, they may have discount options. Many of the hotels provide a toll free number so the phone call could well be worth your while.

If you don’t already have a particular hotel in mind a great way to save time and money is through a hotel booking agency. These are plentiful on the internet. Most have simple input fields where you enter your requirements in terms of luxury level, price, location, length of stay, and specific dates if known. They will then give a list of hotels meeting your criteria to choose your hotel room from including links to the hotels for further evaluation.

To save even further on the cost of hotel rooms ideally make your booking for the off season. It will save you hundreds of dollars over your entire stay. Hotel rooms are almost always offered at discounted rates whenever the hotel cannot sell their rooms to full capacity. This generally occurs in the off season, therefore the peak season is not the best time to look for discounted hotel rooms. Another benefit of off season accommodation is that the proprietor will often offer free room upgrades. For the cost of a basic hotel room you may stay in a greater standard of luxury.

Hotels offer discount coupons in advertising brochures or magazines at certain times, to generate more business to their hotel. These are excellent ways to save on hotel rooms and try the hotel’s service at the same time. In addition, you can also ask the hotel staff about standard discounts on hotel room rates such as AAA auto club or even AARP senior citizen discounts, and if you are serving in the armed forces, there are even some discounts available for you.

In order to get a discount, it is also a good idea for you to mention clubs or affiliates of which you are a member or associated with so that you stand a better chance of lowering the final price of the hotel rooms.

You can also find discounted hotel room rates by being flexible about the date when you expect to arrive. Checking in on a Monday rather than on a Friday will almost certainly help you get better rates. Weekends are usually the wrong time to expect discounts, and so staying during the weekdays will help you save a lot of money on hotel room costs.

Another way to save on the costs of hotel rooms is to purchase package deals. If you are staying for three or more nights your hotel room provider may include one night free, or free breakfasts, or some other incentive. Always check that what is being offered fits your requirements and is not simply a superfluous add on to gain your custom.
