Luxury Hotel: Because You Deserve the Best

February 7, 2010 – 11:56 am

If you want the best — luxurious accommodations, excellent service, fine dining, complete amenities, and top-of-the-line facilities — then you should treat yourself to a luxury hotel. In a luxury hotel, you will be treated like a king or a queen, pampered to your satisfaction, but without the fuss and fanfare, but rather in the quiet of your own privacy. Here are some of the things you should consider in choosing luxury hotel accommodations in your travel destinations in any part of the world.

A luxury hotel is not just a hotel with clean, ample and well-provided rooms. It is a place that offers you elegance, not just comfort. It is a place that allows you to experience something out of the ordinary, like architectural designs, furniture and artworks that take you to the splendor of great eras of the past. And of course, you would want to have everything you need on hand.

In a luxury hotel you will have in your room a mini bar that is fully stocked not only with different kinds of drinks (including alcoholic drinks, coffee and tea for your nightcap) but also with different varieties of snacks or fruits so that you won’t have to go out or order when you get a sudden craving to eat in the middle of the night. Bathrooms should have all the bath supplies and toiletries you might need, including those not provided in ordinary hotels, like shower caps, shaving lotion and razors, and body cream.

Staff in luxury hotels are trained to provide more than efficient service. They are also trained to pay utmost respect to the guests’ privacy. That is why, in a luxury hotel, you would hardly see the room cleaner coming in to tidy up your room or change the linens. It seems they know exactly when you will be stepping out because without your seeing them, by the time you come back, your bed is already made, and your room smelling fresh and clean.

Indeed, privacy is one of the most important reasons why many people choose to stay in a luxury hotel. In a luxury hotel, the staff and crew know exactly where they should be — they give you what you need without asking unnecessary questions, and they do not give out information about guests unless authorized. It is for this reason, among others, that movie stars and famous persons stay in luxury hotels.

And it is for these reasons that you should, too, opt for a luxury hotel if you really want to be free of any worry and care during your vacation.

Hilton Hotels: From Texas to the Whole World

January 29, 2010 – 6:50 am

Now one of the biggest hotel chains in the world, the Hilton Hotels underwent phenomenal growth — from the first hotel purchased by its founder Conrad Hilton in 1919 to the now over 500 hotels worldwide that are owned, managed or franchised by the Hilton Hotel Corporation.

The early life of Conrad Hilton would not have given signs that he would someday be the owner of such a well-known and prestigious international hotel chain. An American of German descent, Conrad studied at the New Mexico School of Mines, then entered the military service and became a World War I war hero. Later he became a representative of New Mexico.

Although he had helped with his father’s small inn, his involvement in the lodging business was interrupted when he entered the military. But soon after he came back from the service, he pursued his plan to go into the hotel business. In 1919, he purchased the Mobley Hotel in Texas, which became the very first hotel of the chain of hotels he would be building years from thereon. Soon, he bought other hotels in Texas and in other parts of the United States.

By 1943, Hilton Hotels had become the first coast-to-coast hotel chain in the US. In1946, the Hilton Hotel Corporation was established. Hilton went international in 1948, the year the Hilton International Corporation was formed. Today, there are 533 Hilton-branded hotels in different parts of the world, including business hotels, leisure hotels and resorts.

Conrad Hilton lived until 1979, but the life of the hotel chain he founded far surpassed the founder’s own life. Today, the Hilton Hotel chain is headed by Christopher Nasseta, and the business is getting even bigger. The hotel chain recently merged with the Blackstone Group in a transaction amounting to over $20 billion. The descendants of Conrad Hilton still own a considerable share of the company’s assets, their net worth estimated at over $350 million.

Conrad Hilton had indeed left a great legacy, not only to his descendants, but to the international hotel industry. Recognized among the best hotels in the world, Hilton Hotels have set the standard in the global hotel business with the luxury of their accommodations and the excellence of service that every guest is accorded with. With a Hilton Hotel in almost every part of the globe, the company indeed lives by its slogan, “Travel should take you places.”
